At the very beginning of your new business you had to create a business plan to show off to the bank or investors to prove that you could maintain an income stream that would pay the bills. The question is have you kept your information up to date since then? I guess the real question is did you even create a business plan to begin with? When I first began in business this was probably my biggest challenge, which was keeping things organized and putting my business plan together. To help you I have devised a 5 step plan to helping you get on your way.

First step, brainstorm and map out all of your thoughts by using mind mapping software. A software called Free Mind works very well, but there is also MindMapper which also works well. Mind Mapping will open up your eyes to more opportunities and will allow you to move your thoughts around very easily. You can even set alarms of when you want to work on a particular item. Today I spoke at the Oatman House in Collinsville, IL to the People in Business Organization. I know some of you do not live in the area and that is why I am posting my slide show on the site today. This is just the first version and I will be updating with more video and audio as the week goes on to better correlate with the actual presentation I gave. Picking a name for your company is about as hard as picking a name for your child. However, you don’t have to find a domain name that is available for your child. The first suggestion to finding the right corporation name is finding a domain name that is available and fits your business description. The other option is to buy the name through a domain agent through places like GoDaddy.com. If your picking a domain I recommend creating a listing and as your looking the domain names strike through or circle the domains that happen to be available.

Utilizing these first steps are crucial for you to start a business and not wasting capital upfront. Having this information will help you learn who your customers are and how you can target them efficiently. Overlooking this step may not put an end to your business, but being aware of your market needs may open another door for you to make even more income.
