Do Your Homework

First, we need to figure out what your business is and what market we are going to be going after. Research is key to see how viable your business plan is in the market. If you are looking to attack a market with a lot of competitors you may want to take a look at www.hoovers.com. This site will layout any information on any company filing taxes in the USA. They will give you a breakdown of their revenues, expenses, and where they stand in the market. For all of you trying to do a web business I would recommend looking up your competitor on www.alexa.com. Another great resource is the Harvard School of Business and the multiple case studies they have for a small fee. This site will save you a lot of money compared to a consultant. If your business is more for pleasure and smaller look at other people that may do the same thing and ask necessary questions as if you were a casual observer. As soon as your done interviewing this person write down notes ASAP.
