5 Points Why You Want Badges on Your Site

After browsing numerous blogs are started to notice a trend of different bloggers putting badges on their site? What is a badge you ask? A badge is an icon on your site that allows your visitors to add you to a network that they already may participate in. This way you can build up your network of connections very easily. One of my favorite blogs Dmiracle.com post all of his badges in his about me section at the very bottom of the page. This is an easy way for his readers to check him out all over the web. I happen to have one badge on my home page. This is a mistake on my part. Let’s take a look at the reasons why it should be displayed.

First point, people are naturally social. In order to keep your friends updated on your status they need a place to find you. Sites like Facebook is where everyone stays in touch, shares stories, and pictures. If you can’t be found or no one knows you’re there then you may be missing out on the “party.”

Second point, people that have multiple badges on their site seem to be very involved in the online community. With this is mind I generally take these writers more serious. If someone is a serious blogger and isn’t on Facebook or Twitter it is very hard to take them seriously.

Third point, You want people to add you as a contact in the social media field! The reason is that you have just gained another channel to send your message to them. Once they add you the access to them becomes unlimited. If you make an update your site they know about it and can spread the word all over the Internet.

Fourth point, building up your connections is key in today’s world. The more people you know the easier it is for you to accomplish your desired outcome. Keeping this in mind why not allow people to add you as a contact. The more the merrier.

Fifth point, getting more people to use social media makes for a better Internet. The more people that see your badges the more likely they are to join these sites. These sites then become a ground where more discussions can take place and help improve the overall quality of the Internet. The reason why the Internet works is because people can communicate quickly and easily.

If your readers can join a network and communicate with you using different channels then it becomes easier to talk to you about your ideas. People talking about your ideas helps you become better overall. You can learn from the people who join your network as well as what they may be doing on their own site. Placing the badge on your site is easy and has many pros compared to the few if any cons.
